As a tired mum, it can be challenging to find ways to boost your energy levels. Especially when you have work, household chores, pets, partners that also suck out your energy.
However, practicing yoga can be a great way to recharge and get your energy flowing. I know finding the motivation for yoga can sometimes be difficult but you deserve to have some time to refill your cup even if that means just 5 minutes a day to fit in 1 of the things I am going to mention below!
Here are three ways you can boost your energy as a tired mum using the tools of yoga:
1
Practice Sun Salutations: Sun Salutations, also known as Surya Namaskar, are a series of yoga postures that are designed to energize the body and warm up the muscles. They are a great way to start your day and get your energy flowing. Sun Salutations can help increase blood flow and release tension, which can leave you feeling more awake and alert. You can do as little as two to three rounds or as many as 10 rounds to get your blood flowing and increase energy levels.
There are different types of sun salutations but my personal favourite is the Classic Sun Salutation and you can practice that with me in the video below
2
Practice Pranayama: Pranayama, or breath control, is a powerful tool that can help boost your energy levels. The breath is closely linked to our energy levels, and by regulating our breath, we can regulate our energy. There are so many different breathing exercises that you could do for this and just concentrating on your breath and increasing the inhale will boost your energy but the one that comes to my mind first it Bhastrika (bellows breath). It involves rapid, forceful inhalations and exhalations through the nose. This practice can help clear the mind, increase oxygen intake, and energize the body.
I will be doing a video on this soon but for now check out my other breathing exercises on my youtube channel
3
Do Inversions: Inversions, where the head is below the heart, can help increase blood flow to the brain and give you a burst of energy. Poses like Downward-Facing Dog, Shoulder Stand, Crow pose and Headstand are all inversions that can help boost your energy levels. However, it’s important to note that inversions should be practiced with caution and under the guidance of a qualified yoga teacher.
These exercises are also fun and when you get your endorphins flowing your energy and mood increases. If crow pose is a goal of yours then check out my crow program below.
Remember to listen to your body and take breaks whenever you need to. Consistency is key, so try to make yoga a regular part of your routine to feel the benefits over time. By incorporating these three practices into your yoga routine, you can boost your energy levels and feel more energized and not such a tired mum.
Practicing yoga can be a great way for tired mums to boost their energy levels. Sun Salutations, Pranayama, and Inversions are all effective ways to energize the body and mind. Give them a try and see how they can help you feel more awake and alert throughout the day!
